DARE TO GIVE!

I dare to say that i learnt a bitter but incredibly strong lesson yesterday. I found out about my friend Lekan osho who needs some money to begin treatment to prevent him from from suffering further complications which may lead to paralysis.Like many of his other friends i sent out a message to encourage other people to help him but some responses i got made me angry, initially.

A couple of people asked whether i really know the person involved, others whether it was a real story, a real need, but the very worst in my mind was the person whose response was 'hmmm, frozen shoulder syndrome, lemme google it'. All i said in reply was 'okay' but i was very very angry at the person.Until i thought about it for some time.

It is a typical Nigerian reaction whenever there's a cry for help, i would probably have reacted the exact same way. In fact i may have pushed it a bit by talking about how everything in our nation is a scam, how every cry for help is just someone trying to steal from you by appealing to your emotions. Yes, that was me until now.
You don't give alms because 'most of them just need that little thing from you to jazz you'. You can't stand up for that person getting robbed in traffic because you don't want to get robbed or even worse shot by the robber(s). You would never stop to help an accident victim or someone whose car packed up on third mainland in the middle of the night simply because you sincerely believe everything is a scam, they are all thieves.Nigerians everywhere on twitter claim that are no longer moved by #save(insert name) campaigns because everyone now does it seeing that the first few were successful.

I won't argue the fact that many of our fears are actually true, but my argument today is that all the same God gave us the golden principle which is to love our neighbours as we love ourselves. No matter how scared you are about helping a person who raises an sos cry, remember that love is the greatest gift, don't question it, as long as you can help, just help.If you suffer for it i dare say that God has your back, he'll protect you and he'll provide for you always, always!

No words could preach my message better than the words written in 1 corinthians 13 (please read it,the book i'm quoting is the bible by the way, lol).

Though i have the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though i have all faith so that i could remove mountains, but have not love, i am nothing.

My friend is Lekan Osho. He's a lawyer like me(Unilag alumni too) he's caring, sweet and right now he needs our help. He always goes out of his way to make anyone smile, even yesterday when i tried to reach him he greeted me with two words 'beautiful Ese'.He went on to say that he is 'not feeling so good' ever so gentle even in pain. I couldn't help but desperately try to ensure that he doesn't continue in pain.

This message is my cry for your help. Please help save my friend all he needs is #500,000 which is about #1,000 from 500 people or even 500 from #1,000 people. No matter how little you give you may be helping him today .

Please make all donations payable to OSHO OLALEKAN WAHEED account number: 0114493892 GT bank . May God bless you immensely.

(please bear with me, i really do not understand why the paragraphs i inserted aren't reflected here)
