Born in June, keep Holding On!

I recently added an extra year to my already old age (don't bother asking how old are you?). I have arrived in that stage of life where women (particularly nigerian women as far as i know) are never in a hurry to declare their true ages. I particularly remember looking forward to turning 21, but after that each new year has brought with it some form of anxiety, don't worry i'll explain. I must however state quite clearly at this point that more than anything i am ubergrateful to God for the gifts of life, love and favour. God has been faithful thus far and he has granted me the grace to achieve most of my dreams so far.

So what anxiety am i talking about you may wonder. Its simple, its that anxiety that comes with a desire to fulfil all those societal expectations as well as achieve your own dreams. Each year when my birthday comes around i think about all the things i achieved as well as all the things i failed to achieve within the last year. Often it would become a source of heartache for me that i still had so many dreams to achieve from the previous year, but i'm learning fast and thats my motivation for writing this.

As long as there is life, you must have new dreams, unchartered territories, unmet goals but this are the things that ought to give your life meaning. Imagine waking up one day and having absolutely nothing to look forward to, sucks right? Thats my point never look at your dreams and goals as reminders of failures, never consider them sources of fear, instead be inspired! Spend your spare moments writing on a notebook, on your phone , however, whenever! Write new goals, build new dreams, create new ideas and build on them.

Success can only be achieved by planning and putting those plans to action. Instead of worrying about your future, plan for it. Instead of complaining about not having funds or material, create a plan, think up a plan. It is only creativity and hardwork that separates a dreamer from an achiever.

Each new year God gives you is a clean slate to start afresh, so open your notebook of dreams and give it your very best. You have 365 days till your next new year and with God all things are possible. When your next birthday comes along, be able to beat your chest and say 'today i celebrate the gift of life that God has so mercifully granted me, and i celebrate the favour he granted me to achieve my dreams for the past year'. Long story short hold on to your dreams, don't give up until you've achieved them!

In the month of June some of my closest friends and family were born, so i dedicate this as my unofficial birthday gift to them.
