Susan cried for at least 30 minutes (i'm not exaggerating oh) not silent tears, she was crying those kind of tears that involve a lot of heaving, and blowing the nose and generally not looking pretty. I just kept saying "calm down Susan, calm down". Finally she calmed down, she became very quiet. I put a call through to the make-up artiste to get her to come and re-do the bride's make-up. Bode and I arrived Lagos in the wee hours of the morning and even then, the city looked like it hadn't been to sleep. It was 5am and there was already traffic into the city, hawkers were selling their wares as though it was 5pm in the evening. I had never seen anything like it. It was like I was in a different time zone or something. Of course I wasn't going to show my surprise, I mean only bush people were shocked by a town being abuzz at that time of day.
