Young Nigerian women, DIGNIFY YOURSELVES

I dare say that nothing is more important to a woman than happiness, women whether African, American, European, Asian just want to be happy and believe me when the women in your life are happy it just means you get to be a lot happier. Its a circle really..happy women in your life = happy men and happy men = new family = happy children which ultimately translates to a happy world. Yes, the world would be a happier place if we just pay attention to the most important people in the world...our women.

If you think i'm about to go on one of my 'treat women right' rants, i'm not. This article is more on the women than for the women. My inspiration to write this article stems from all the sad sad articles we read up daily about our young women, you can read some of the stories here , here , here  and even here. It is true that women want to be happy but its also true that happiness means different things to different women, it may mean money, love or even fame (attention). I do not lay claims to having any extra-ordinary knowledge of the world or even women but these are two things i think every Nigerian woman must address in order to attain some measure of happiness.. Long gone are the days when women were celebrated for their dignity and self-respect. Our women today are fast becoming desperate money-seeking , body selling, self- disrespecting persons. It is sad to watch the way nudity is becoming an acceptable culture, sex is publicly traded and women are even becoming armed robbers. If you think its just this generation consider this, if our generation of women are like this what sort of training or upbringing can they give our children? Our women smoke, over 70% are prostitutes (one way or the other), our women drink way more than men sometimes..yes! when it comes to Vices women have arguably become equal to men, some have even far exceeded the records set by the men that they know..women!!! what exactly are we doing?

We are birthgivers, life - moulders, let us act that way. 

Empower yourself

I'm not going to act like i don't know how harsh our economic climate is but ladies, perpetually looking for a rich man to sweep you off your feet isn't the way to go. The aristoes, yahoo boys, sugar mamas and others already know your game, they sleep with you for their own benefit too, so you probably tell youself 'i'm using what i have to get what i want' ...excellent theory except for one thing, what you have is fast depreciating! Soon you'll have to listen to your maternal clock, you'll probably want to settle down,  the yahoo boys would probably have found decent girls to marry them. The aristoes? well you knew they were already taken didn't you? The young men who take you out, sleep with you and give you money nko? I'm sure you both knew it was just for fun.

You can choose to keep on waiting for the next bidder to pay and have a bit of your 'national cake' or you can choose to build some sort of career. All that matters is that you have something going for you, start a business , be creative, or find a job, go for a training to improve your cv. Don't spend your life looking for the next man to come along and spend his money on your sweaty endeavours, make you own money and attain independence.

Protect your dignity

Dress right, speak right, act right.
Dress like a woman who knows what she's worth. The only reason you have to show the entire world your nakedness or maybe just your boobs or any other thing that needs to be hidden is simply because you think you're not good enough. You do all that to promote yourself and all it screams out is 'hey see my naked picture on twitter, or see the top half of my boobs..that should finally get me some of your attention'. Similarly speak and act with self-respect, don't be vulgar. That only tells a man that you're available to be used as a tool..trust men you'll definitely be used!!
